The component
Discipline for the cloth.
Cloth wants to move — to stretch along a front edge, to open at a gorge, to give at a pocket
mouth. Binding reinforcements are the narrow tapes that tell it no: sewn or fused along edges and stress
lines, they lock the geometry of the garment exactly where the pattern placed it.
In-Tailoring reinforcement tapes are produced to the tolerances Cobas developed for
industrial construction: stable width, controlled give, and behaviour that repeats spool after spool. Small
components — and the reason a lapel line is still straight ten years on.
Function
Where a garment works hardest.
Reinforcement tape runs wherever the garment is under strain: front edges, roll lines, armholes,
pocket mouths, gorge seams. It stops stretch before it starts — invisible insurance, sewn in by the metre.

Straight
Firm straight tape for edges and lines that must not move. Straight grain tapes and ribbons, some with selvedge

Bias
Cut on the bias — 45° or 15° — for curves, armholes and shaped seams.

C
Fusible
Iron-on stability: fusible interlining with nylon reinforcement, for waistbands and fast MTMworkflows.
