The component
The fabric behind the fold.
The under-collar is the compact felt sewn beneath the collar of a jacket. It never shows — yetit decides how the collar sits: how cleanly it rolls at the neckline, how firmly it holds its fold, how faithfullyit returns after every wear. A collar without a proper under-collar loses its line within weeks.
In-Tailoring under-collars are milled for density and recovery, in the construction gradesdeveloped by Cobas for the industry’s most demanding collars. The result is a felt that takes the ironprecisely, holds the roll line you set, and keeps it for the life of the garment.
Function
Memory for the collar.
Sewn beneath the top collar, the under-collar shapes the roll at the neckline and anchors the fold. Itis the reason a well-made collar sits close to the neck on day one — and still does years later.

Specifications
The essentials.
An under-collar is judged on three things: how it takes the iron, how it holds the fold, and how it
recovers. The specification serves all three.
Recovery is the quiet test of an under-collar: ours are milled so that the fold you press is the foldthe collar remembers — wear after wear, season after season.
