What a canvas actually is.
A canvas is the structural fabric that lives between the outer cloth and the lining of a tailored jacket. Traditionally built from wool, horsehair and cotton blends, it is the layer that gives the front of the garment its body — the part of the jacket that works, invisibly, every time it is worn.
In-Tailoring canvases carry the construction experience Cobas has developed for the high end of the industry: stable behaviour, consistent hand, and a response to shaping that tailors can rely on — roll after roll, order after order.

A canvas sits between cloth and lining across the chest and front. It governs how the jacket rolls, how the lapel breaks, how the front drapes over the body — quietly, for the life of the garment.

Every canvas is defined by a handful of technical choices — fibre blend, weight, format, construction. These are the ones that matter when you specify an order.
Behaviour is part of the specification: our canvases are engineered for a consistent response to steam, shaping and basting, so the roll you set is the roll the garment keeps.
